Tougher 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz Debuts With Updated Tucson At New York Auto Show
The Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup has been redesigned for 2025 with more truck-like styling and a new off-road trim.
The compact pickup features a wider stance and a more upright front end with triple-stacked lights and what Hyundai calls a “menacing” grille.
The dashboard has also been updated with available dual digital displays, which have become a common theme across Hyundai’s lineup, and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
The choice of a 191 hp four-cylinder or 281 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine remains, the former offered with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and the latter with all-wheel-drive.

The XRT trim has been upgraded from an appearance package to a configuration with improved off-pavement capability that comes with all-terrain tires, tow hooks, an improved front approach angle and a 360-degree camera system, but no change to the Santa Cruz’s 8.6-inches of ground clearance.
Pricing will be announced closer to when the Alabama-built Santa Cruz goes on sale this summer.
The Tucson SUV that’s built alongside the Santa Cruz on the same platform has also been refreshed with similar updates inside and out, but it has a lower hood and unique grille patterns.
The engine lineup includes a 187 hp 2.5-liter four cylinder, a 231 hp hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. The hybrids both come standard with all-wheel-drive while the 2.5-liter models are available with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
The all-electric driving range for the plug-in hybrid hasn’t been announced, but the outgoing model is rated at 33 miles per charge.
The 2.5-liter Tucsons are scheduled to hit showrooms in June at yet to be announced prices and the hybrids will follow later in the summer.
