It looks like Joey Gase has been working out.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series driver was racing to stay at the front of the lapped cars midway through the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway on Saturday, with the hopes of getting a Lucky Dog pass around at the next yellow flag, when Dawson Cram ran through the back of him and put him into the wall.

Gase’s car, which he owns, backed into the barrier and was heavily damaged.

Gase then proceeded to tear the rear bumper cover off the car, waited for Cram to pass by him under yellow, and threw it at his windshield.

Gase, who Cram drove for in 2022, told Fox what he thought caused the contact.”

“I think him just not having his head screwed on right,” Gase said.

“Apparently he just didn’t know how to lift. Maybe his throttle struck, I don’t know.”

Cram and his team owner Johnny Davis have yet to comment on the incident.

Gase will likely face some type of sanction for his action from NASCAR, but penalties are typically announced after the race weekend is complete.

Cram ended up finishing the race two laps down in 25th, while Chandler Smith led a Joe Gibbs Racing sweep ahead of Aric Almirola and Taylor Gray.

Smith didn’t know about the incident until a reporter showed it to him after the race, but he gave Gase an “attaboy” and said he thinks NASCAR drivers should show emotion like that.
