The 700 HP Fox Factory Silverado 1500 Is The Ford F-150 Raptor R-Fighter That Chevrolet Won’t Build
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 is a formidable off-roader.
It features a high performance suspension equipped with Multimatic DSSV dampers that allow it to drive off-road at high speeds and take big jumps.
But could it be faster and jump farther?
The ZR2’s biggest shortcoming compared to the Ford F-150 Raptor is that it is only offered with a 420 hp V8, while the Raptor R model has a 720 hp supercharged V8.

The F-150 Raptor also rides on a suspension built around Fox Live Valve shocks, which use a different design than Multimatic’s, but aim to provide the same kind of performance.
It is with some irony, then, that Fox Factory is building a limited run of Silverado 1500s engineered with Live Valve shocks.
The trucks run on a long-travel suspension from Baja Kits that utilizes semi-active coilover remote-reservoir 3.2 Live Valve shocks, which are a step up from the Raptor’s 3.0 version. The rear leaf spring suspension has been completely replaced by a multi-link setup. The changes provide a six-inch wider track than the stock Silverado 1500 plus 14.5 and 15.5 inches of front and rear travel for its 37-inch tires.
The Silverado’s engine has also been upgraded with a Whipple supercharger that cranks it up to 700 hp and 640 lb-ft. The drivetrain has been beefed up to handle the power with an stronger drivelines, an Autotrac 2-speed transfer case, Dana 60 axles and an ARB rear locker.
High clearance bumpers, carbon fiber vent inserts, Nacho LED lights, a bed rack with spare tire carrier appointments and custom-upholstered seats round out the package.
The price is a big higher than the F-150 Raptor R’s $112,250. Fox Factory will build up to 500 of the Silverados starting at $209,999, but they do come with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
