Tesla Recalling 3,878 Cybertrucks To Fix Accelerator Pedals That Can Get Stuck
It’s a total recall.
Tesla is recalling all 3,878 Cybertrucks that were built from Nov 13, 2023 through April 4, 2024 and delivered to customers in the U.S. to fix accelerator pedals that can get stuck in the full power position.
The issue involves the footpad that is attached to the pedal, which may slip off and get the entire assembly caught in the footwell trim.
Several owners reported the problem to the automaker and publicly on social media.

“An unapproved change introduced lubricant (soap) to aid in the component assembly of the pad onto the accelerator pedal. Residual lubricant reduced the retention of the pad to the pedal,” the recall notice says.
I FIXED THE CYBERTRUCK’S DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW
One image posted to social media shows a fix that involves the addition of a screw, but the recall notice does not detail this. Instead, it says, “Tesla will replace or rework the accelerator pedal assembly such that the assembly meets specifications and ensures sufficient retention force between the pad and accelerator pedal to prevent the pad from dislodging.”
Pressing the brake pedal cuts the power even if the accelerator is fully depressed.
