Secret 2025 Ford Mustang Model Teased
Ford celebrated the Mustang’s 60th anniversary this week with an event at Charlotte Motor Speedway and brought a wrapped present for pony car fans.
During the presentation, which included the unveiling of a limited edition 60th anniversary appearance package for the Mustang GT, the company teased a new model coming next year.
It was the “one more thing” and shown only as a rendering hidden under a green sheet.
“Mustang has always been about being the most fun to drive car and this is going to be an amazing new addition to the family,” Matt Simpson, Ford’s general manager of enthusiast vehicles, said.
All that can be discerned from the image is that it has a large rear wing.
Ford already offers the Mustang Dark Horse, which slots above the Mustang GT, and will have the IMSA-inspired $325,000 Mustang GTD on sale later this year.
It’s possible that the car is a new Shelby GT500, but Autoblog reported that the file name for the image was initially “RTR Fun 03B” suggesting it could be a new collaboration with Vaughn Gittin Jr’s RTR Vehicles. Ford didn’t say when the car would be fully revealed.
There is a new Shelby on sale now, however, but from Shelby American itself, not Ford.
The 2024 Shelby Super Snake is the company’s first seventh generation Mustang build and is being offered with an 830 hp supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The car is available as a coupe or convertible and can also be ordered with the stock Mustang GT’s 480 hp 5.0-liter V8 with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
