New Ram 1500 TRX Kind Of Confirmed, But Will It Have 1,000 HP?
The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO will be jumping into showrooms this year as the brand’s new top performance model, but it might not be king of the hill for long.
The 1500 RHO is powered by a 540 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine known as the Hurricane, which makes it the most powerful model in the lineup … for now.

It’s still a far cry from the discontinued 702 hp Ram 1500 TRX, which featured a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, but it’s also not a direct replacement.
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said the TRX name is “on the shelf” and it sounds like it won’t be there for long.
Jeff Summers, Ram’s head of advertising, wrote a LinkedIn post dissecting all of the details in the promotional video used to announce the 1500 RHO.

The video features a convoy of several Ram models delivering the new truck for its unveiling in the desert.
Two KTM motorcycles accompany the convoy, one of which has the number 540 on it, while the other is blank. Summers explained what the viewer is seeing:
“Dirt bikes, with 540 on one for the RHO HP, and another bike — which has a number intentionally left blank for the next Ram High HP vehicle with three letters.”
He’s almost certainly talking about a new TRX, but with Ram discontinuing its V8 engines, what will be under the hood? Well, it’s likely to be an even more powerful version of the Hurricane, and it is capable of a lot more power.
The upcoming Dodge Charger has already been confirmed to have a 550 hp version, but the motor has a lot more potential. The Direct Connection parts catalog is offering a selection of HurriCrate crate motors for custom and race car builders.

There’s a 420 hp Cat1, a 550 hp Cat3 and a CatX for drag racing in the works that has a target power output in the mid-1,000 hp range. That would suggest that 702 hp would be achievable in street trim and perhaps even 1,000 up isn’t out of the question.
As for when we’ll find out, with the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO just going on sale this year, the new 1500 TRX will probably be a 2026 or 2027 model, but with Ram already teasing it, you never know how quickly it will arrive.
