It was a pricey punch.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been levied a $75,000 fine by NASCAR for throwing a punch at Kyle Busch during a verbal altercation after the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday.

It is the largest fine ever issued for fighting by NASCAR

Busch wrecked Stenhouse on the second lap of the the race after Stenhouse forced him wide on the first lap, which caused Bush to hit the wall.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A NASCAR RACE ENDS IN A TIE?

Stenhouse was out of the race and parked his car in Busch’s pit stall, but wasn’t able to leave the facility because it doesn’t have a tunnel out of the infield.

After the race ended, Busch approached Stenhouse and the two came to words, then Stenhouse punched Busch and an all-out brawl ensued.

Stenhouse told Fox Sports’ Race Hub that he was “a little confused” by the penalty, but expected something.

“As one guy once said, I meant to rattle his cage and spin him out, didn’t mean for him to over correct and stuff it in the fence,” Kyle Busch told the Kenny Wallace YouTube show.

Busch said he went to Stenhouse’s trailer for “casual words” not knowing Stenhouse had suggested he was ready for him.

“I felt like I went into an ambush blind.”
