Here’s Why Chase Elliott Doesn’t Agree With Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s $75,000 Fine

You can’t have it both ways.

During a press conference ahead of the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Coal 600, Chase Elliott was asked what he thought of the record $75,000 fighting fine that NASCAR hit Ricky Stenhouse Jr. with for punching Kyle Busch after the NASCAR All-Star Race.

“Seventy-five? Thousand? Wow, I heard he got fined, I didn’t know it was seventy-five grand,” Elliott said, visibly surprised by the amount.

“That seems like a lot for that situation.”

Elliott was concerned about NASCAR playing both sides.

“You gonna fine him, but you gonna promote with it?”

“What we doing? That’s a little strange to me,” he said.

“It’s not okay, but we’re gonna blast it all over everything to get more clicks. You know. I don’t really agree with that.”

Elliott will be looking for his second win of the season and first Coca-Cola 600 win on Sunday. It’s the only major race his father Bill Elliott didn’t win during his illustrious career.

BetMGM had Elliott eighth at +1100 odds to win at the time of this writing, while his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson was the favorite at +475.

Larson will be racing at the Indy 500 earlier in the day if weather permits as he tires to complete The Double by competing in both races on the same day.

He is qualified fifth for the Indy 500 and is one of the top five favorites to win in his rookie outing.
