The Tesla Model Y is the most American-Made light duty vehicle for 2024, according to the latest edition of Cars.com’s annual study, which gauges the impact a vehicle’s production has on the U.S. economy.

The report looks at vehicles that are assembled in the United States and considers the parts content, engine origin, transmission origin and the size of the automaker’s U.S. workforce in ranking the top 100 models.

Parts content includes U.S. and Canadian components, as the study draws its sourcing data from NHTSA under the guidelines of the American Automobile Labeling Act. Attributes like build quality and consumer appeal are not factored in to the results.

The Model Y was followed by the Alabama-built Honda Passport and Tennessee-built Volkswagen ID.4.

JEEP NAMED MOST PATRIOTIC BRAND … AGAIN

The Model S was fourth and the Honda Odyssey and Ridgeline, which share a factory with the Passport, fifth and sixth. Rounding out the Top 10 on the Cars.com list were the Kentucky-built Toyota Camry, Jeep Gladiator and Tesla Model X.

THE USA NEEDS MORE AMERICAN SUPERCARS

Honda and its luxury brand Acura had a combined eight models in the top 20, more than any other automaker. Every Acura currently sold in the U.S. is assembled in the country.

The Cars.com report is separate from the Kogod School Of Businesses’ Made In America Auto Index, which is released in December and uses a different methodology to determine a vehicle’s impact on the U.S. economy.
