Stewart-Haas Racing is closing up shop at the end of the 2024 season, but Gene Haas isn’t done with NASCAR.
Haas announced on Wednesday that he will be retaining one of the team’s four Cup Series charters to field a single car effort from next year under the Haas Factory Team banner.
The team will also run two cars in the Xfinity Series.
“My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement,” Haas said in a press release.

“Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.”
Haas has been involved with NASCAR teams since 2002 and launched Stewart-Haas Racing with Tony Stewart for the 2009 season.
No potential driver, additional sponsors or even what brand of car the team will race were confirmed.
Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Ryan Preece and Josh Berry currently driver for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Cup Series, while Riley Herbst and defending champion Cole Custer are on its Xfinity series team.
Front Row Motorsports has already committed to purchase one of the Stewart-Haas Racing charters if a new charter agreement with NASCAR is reached.
None of the team’s Cup Series drivers have secured rides for the 2025 season yet, but Chase Briscoe said at the Iowa Speedway weekend that he’s closing in on a deal.
Tony Stewart’s attention has moved toward NHRA drag racing, where he has taken over for his wife Leah Pruett in the Tony Stewart Racing Top Fuel car.
Dodge announced on Monday that it had extended its Tony Stewart Racing sponsorship, but did not reveal the duration of the agreement.
