The $480,000 Hunter RMV Apex 6×6 Will Roam Wherever The Hell It Wants To

Extreme off-road overland recreational vehicle builder Hunter RMV has revealed its latest creation.
The Acela Apex 6×6 is based on a refurbished tactical vehicle.
Montana’s Acela restores and updates surplus Stewart & Stevenson M1078A1 LMTV trucks for mining and other extreme duty use and Hunter RMV is now turning them into RVs.

The Apex 6×6 uses an Acela Monterra GL 6×6 chassis powered by a Caterpillar 7.2-liter 330 HP engine that drives the wheels through a seven-speed Allison transmission. It carries 113 gallons of fuel that can provide more than 800 miles of range, has 22-inches of ground clearance and can be equipped with a 25,000-pound winch. A central tire-inflation system can be used adjust the pressure of the Goodyear 395/85R20 all terrain tires from the driver’s seat. Its top speed is limited to 74 mph.

The cabin has a full kitchen, bathroom, living and dining area along with a king size bed and storage. The space has its own door and can also be accessed through a hatch that leads directly to the driving compartment.
Solar panels on the roof provide off-grid power and there is also a lithium-ion battery pack and an Onan backup generator. A 130-gallon freshwater tank is supplemented by a gray water tank.
Pricing starts at $480,000 and Hunter RMV offers additional options like a motorcycle lift.
Acela builds its trucks in Nevada and offers several other models, including the Sherpa X, which can be built on either a Chevrolet Kodiak C 5500 4×4 or Mitsubishi Fuso FG 140 4×4 chassis.
