They don’t call it the SuperVan for nothing.

The all-electric Ford SuperVan 4.2 demonstration vehicle set the fastest time during qualifying for the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed Timed Shootout on Saturday with a blistering run up the venue’s legendary 1.16-mile-long hillclimb course, beating some impressive machines along the way.

The SuperVan 4.2 features a tri-motor electric drivetrain rated at around 1,400 hp and a body designed to generate 4,400 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.

The vehicle was driven by sports car ace Roman Dumas, who set a class record with it at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The event posted video of the top 10 runs.

Dumas clocked a Goodwood run of 45 seconds even, which just beat the 45.1 second time posted by the 670 hp Subaru WRX Project Midnight, which was built by Subaru Motorsports USA and driven by former F1 driver Scott Speed.

Michael Lyons was next in a vintage Gurney Eagle FA74 Formula 5000 car and was followed by Travis Pastrana in his modified 863 hp Subaru GL Wagon (AKA: the “Huckster”) with times of 47.3 and 47.5, respectively.

Behind them were a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup racing car, an Alpine A110 Pikes Peak special, a Ferrari 296 Challenge competition car, a Ford Puma Rally1 that competed in the 2022 World Rally Championship and a Lotus 77 Formula One car that recorded a time of 49.8 seconds.

The final runs take place on Sunday, so we’ll have to see if Dumas can do it again.

Earlier this month, the Frenchman drove Ford’s F-150 Lightning SuperTruck up Pikes Peak to an overall win at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The SuperTruck is an evolution of the SuperVan 4.2, but was tuned to crank out 1,600 hp and can generate 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.
