Ford’s Going To Build F-Series Super Duty Trucks In Canada Instead Of Electric ‘Bullet Train’ SUVs
The Ford F-Series Super Duty is going to have to lower the American flag. Well, some of them will.
Ford has announced plans to add F-Series Super duty production in Canada starting in 2026 in order to help meet demand for the commercial-oriented trucks.
The Oakville, Ontario, factory most recently built the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs.
The Edge went out of production in April and Ford hasn’t announced a replacement, while the new 2024 Nautilus is imported to the U.S. from China.

The F-Series Super Duty is currently manufactured at Ford’s Kentucky Truck and Ohio Assembly plants, and all F-Series models are produced within the United States, which is celebrated with American flags displayed on the sides of their dashboards that greet passengers entering the vehicles. Ford built 303,578 F-Series Super Duty trucks in 2023 and said the Canadian factory will have an initial capacity of 100,000 trucks per year.
The Oakville facility was previously slated to build a sleek three-row electric SUV that Ford CEO Jim Farley has described as a “personal bullet train.” The SUV was originally scheduled to enter production in 2026, but has been delayed until 2027 as Ford slows the expansion of its electric vehicle offerings due to market demand.
IS ‘LIGHTSTREAM’ FORD’S ELECTRIC BULLET TRAIN SUV?
“Super Duty is a vital tool for businesses and people around the world and, even with our
Kentucky Truck Plant and Ohio Assembly Plant running flat out, we can’t meet the demand.
This move benefits our customers and supercharges our Ford Pro commercial business,”
Farley said.
“At the same time, we look forward to introducing three-row electric utility vehicles, leveraging our experience in three-row utility vehicles and our learnings as America’s No. 2 electric vehicle brand to deliver fantastic, profitable vehicles.”
Ford didn’t release any technical details about the F-Series Super Duty that will arrive in 2026, but did say that it will include “multi-energy technology,” which suggests it will be available with hybrid, if not full electric, powertrains.
