Cole Custer Returning To NASCAR Cup Series With Haas Factory Team For 2025
Cole Custer his heading back to the NASCAR Cup Series.
The reigning Xfinity Series Champion and current points leader will drive for the new Haas Factory Team in 2025.
The Haas Factory Team is being formed from the remnants of Stewart-Haas Racing, which is disbanding at the end of 2024. It will field one chartered team in the Cup Series and two cars in the Xfinity Series.
The 26-year-old Custer drives for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Xfinity Series and previously spent three full-time seasons in the Cup Series with the team from 2020 through 2022, finishing the seasons in 16th, 26th and 25th in the standings.
“I’ve grown up with Haas Automation, and having their name on my fire suit is something I take a tremendous amount of pride in. I’m driven to win for Gene and everyone at Haas Automation because they’ve been such a big part of my career,” Custer said in a press release on the move.
“Haas Factory Team will essentially be a new race team next year, and it’s going to take all of us to build it into an organization that can go out and win races. I want this opportunity and I’m ready for this challenge.”
“Cole has represented Haas Automation for more than half his life and he’s delivered results every step of the way. He just wins, and he’s proven that repeatedly,” said Haas Factory Team owner Gene Haas.
“On his way to winning the Xfinity Series championship last year, Cole really carved out an identity for himself, on the track and off. He brings home trophies and he races people clean. He’s earned a lot of respect from his peers, and he’s a genuine personality whose hard work resonates with our customers.”
Current Stewart-Haas Racing Cup Series drivers Josh Berry, Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson are moving to Wood Brothers Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing and Front Row Motorsports, respectively, in 2025, while Ryan Preece does not yet have a confirmed ride.
The Haas Factory Team will run Ford Mustangs and the automaker welcomed Custer back to the Cup Series in a social media post that said, “Pumped to have you back on Sundays.”
