Rick Hendrick Bought A $3 Million Car That Goes 300 MPH For His Birthday
Rick Hendrick owns 93 auto dealerships across the country, but even he goes car shopping sometimes.
The Hendrick Motorsports boss just got himself a $3 million Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Roadster to celebrate his 75th birthday.
Hennessey announced the delivery on social media this week with photos of John Hennessey handing over the car.
Hennessey is building just 12 of the Venom F5 Revolution Roadsters priced at approximately $3 million each. The two-seat supercar is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 rated at 1,817 horsepower.

Hendrick’s vehicle has been customized with his company’s “H” logo on the fenders and a numbered plaque on the center console. It features a black and red color scheme and exposed carbon fiber bodywork.

The Venom F5 Revolution Roadster has a “theoretical” top speed of at least 328 mph, which would make it the fastest production car in the world, although Hennessey hasn’t attempted a record run yet.

On July 1, a coupe version was undergoing acceleration tests with a new aerodynamic setup on the Shuttle Landing Facility runway at the Kennedy Space Center when it lost downforce and crashed at “around” 240 mph. The driver was OK, but photos of the damage have not been released. The car has previously reached 271 mph.

Hennessey is planning to go for the speed record before the end of the year, likely on a closed public highway in Texas with veteran racing driver David Donohue behind the wheel.
This isn’t Hendrick’s only anniversary car this year.
His company also commissioned a run of 40 custom Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE cars to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hendrick Motorsports. One of the red coupes was given away in a sweepstakes and the rest offered for sale through Hendrick Auto Group Chevrolet showrooms.\
