It was deja vu all over again for AJ Foyt Racing.

A week after the team’s driver Sting Ray Robb ran into a slowing car and went airborne at Iowa Speedway, his teammate Santino Ferrucci took a flight at Toronto.

Pato O’Ward spun into the tire barriers right after a restart with 12 laps to go and was T-boned by Marcus Ericcson just before Christian Fittipaldi drove over his nose followed by Ferrucci, who hit him harder and faster and was launched into the catch fence.

Ferrucci’s car rolled over Fittipaldi’s and landed upside down in the center of the track.

Emergency crews were quick to arrive and flip the car upright and Ferrucci got out on his own.

All of the drivers escaped without major injuries, but the race was red flagged while the mess was cleaned up.

Pole-sitter Colton Herta, who ended up leading 81 of 85 laps, took the green flag with 10 laps to go, but contact between Will Power and Scott McLaughlin left McLaughlin in the wall and brought out a final yellow.

The restart came with five laps left, and Herta held off Kyle Kirkwood to pick up his first win since the 2022 GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

“I wish we didn’t have this long break. I want to go win another one,” Herta said during his post-race interview, referencing the long schedule break coming up before the series visits World Wide Technology Raceway on August 17.
