A modern version of the GMC Jimmy SUV is being offered at the Mecum Auctions event in Harrisburg, Penn., but it’s not from the factory.

The two-door truck is a custom built by Flat Out Autos in Arkansas that’s based on the latest GMC Sierra 1500 pickup.

It is inspired by the full-size GMC Jimmy trucks that were built alongside the Chevrolet K5 Blazer from 1969 to 1991.

Flat Out Autos also builds a Blazer-style KR2 off of the Silverado 1500 platform, but the Jimmy build appeared first at the 2022 SEMA show.

Starting with a regular cab, long bed Sierra 1500, Flat Out Autos shortened the wheelbase by 22 inches, removed the rear wall of the cabin and modified the bodywork with the sides from a short bed truck.

Rear seats, a roll bar and a removable fiberglass roof stay true to the original Jimmy layout, but the truck keeps its current look up front with an Sierra 1500 AT4 grille and bumper and has GMC’s MultiPro Tailgate at the rear. The stock 4×4 system and 5.3-liter V8 are retained, but a Vance & Hines exhaust system with quad tips is added.

The chalk grey over blue rig has a lift kit, BDS upper control arms and Fox shocks and it rides on 22-inch Rotiform wheels wrapped in Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.

The Jimmy has 213 miles on the odometer and was recently “sold” on Bring a Trailer for $150,500, but the deal didn’t close, so Flat Out Autos is putting it up again at Mecum. If you’d prefer a one with a different color or options, Flat Out Autos will build a new truck for you at prices starting at $146,000 including the donor Sierra 1500, but it will take around four months to complete the job.
