The Chevrolet Corvette Costs $200,000 Now

That escalated quickly.

When the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette launched for the 2020 model year it had a $59,995 base price that made the mid-engine two-seater look like an amazing deal.

Today, an entry-level Stingray costs $69,995, which is still a value in today’s market, but you can spend a lot more than that on a Corvette.

The hybrid Corvette E-Ray that was named American Cars And Racing’s US-Built Car Of The YearTM starts at $106,595, while the track-focused Corvette Z06 is $115,390.

That is until you start adding the options, which can push both models over $160,000 from the factory, but some Corvette buyers are paying a lot more than that. Due to the low availability of the Z06 in particular, Chevy’s last sports cars are being marked up and flipped for tremendous premiums.

GONE! THE LAST NEW CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1 WAS JUST SOLD FO $134,040

On Saturday, someone paid $200,750 for a new Z06 convertible with the top 3LZ trim at the Mecum Auctions event in Harrisburg. It had a base price of $126,150, but the total cost with options and the delivery fee was $163,205, meaning the winning bidder shelled out an extra $37,545 to get it.

A survey of Cars.com and other online marketplaces shows several new Z06s listed at dealers in the $190,000 to $225,000 range. This partly explains why the average transaction price for new Corvettes in the fourth quarter of 2023 was more than $106,000. That may seem cheap pretty soon, however, as Chevrolet has just unveiled the 1,064 hp 2025 Corvette ZR1 that is going on sale next year.

The price hasn’t been released, but it will slot above the Z06 in the lineup and surely be in high demand, so even if it comes in at a bargain list price, you can expect the actual selling price to be as high as its horsepower rating.
