The Electric Dodge Charger Daytona Is The Cheapest Two-Door Sports Car With 496 HP And 670 HP
Pricing for the electric Dodge Charger Daytona was released this week and it raised a few eyebrows.
The first available trims are a $61,590 R/T and a $75,185 Scat Pack.
Those are about $18,000 and $25,000 higher than the V8-powered versions of the Dodge Challenger that they replace.
They do come standard with some performance upgrades, however, with the R/T rated at 496 hp and the Scat Pack at 670 hp. With those numbers in mind, they both start to look more like a good horsepower deals.

The Ford Mustang GT is rated at 480 hp and has a base price of $47,055, but the 500 hp Mustang Dark Horse starts at $64,875. A 490 hp Chevrolet Corvette Stingray currently lists for $69,995. Import models with that level of power are all also more expensive than the R/T. Stepping over to the SUV side, a 557 hp Chevrolet Blazer SS will run you $65,995. The only car that can beat it is the four-door Tesla Model 3 Performance, which delivers 510 hp for $43,380, which is an amazing bargain.
It’s the same story with the 670 hp Scat Pack. The next step up for the Mustang is the upcoming GTD, which is priced at $325,000 and the 655 hp Corvette E-Ray is $106,595. The entry-level version of the Tesla Model S is also rated at 670 hp, but it checks out at $76,380 with the delivery fee included.

But while the Model S isn’t designed like a muscle car, it can beat the Charger Daytona to 60 mph with a 3.1-second sprint to the Dodge’s 3.3-second time. Keep going and it will cover 402 miles between charges, while the Charger Daytona Scat Pack has a 260-mile estimate.

The Charger Daytona will also be available as a four-door starting early next year, but pricing hasn’t been announced yet. Later in the year a version will launch that’s just called the Charger and will be powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six turbocharged engine with either 420 hp or 550 hp. It’s possible the more potent one will be priced under that R/T, but who knows what the other brands have in store before then.

Ford has been teasing a mystery mustang model for 2025, which could be anything from an all-wheel-drive hybrid to a new Shelby GT500 muscle car. Neither of which will be all-electric, according to Ford CEO Jim Farley, who has said the brand will never build such a model.
GM President Mark Reuss has suggested that the Camaro could return as an all-electric four-door, but nothing has been confirmed and it would be years away.
