Here’s How Many Corvette ZR1 Coupes And Convertibles Chevrolet Expects To Sell
You can pop the top on any Corvette, but there are two ways to do it.
The coupe has a manually removable targa-style roof panel, while the convertible has a retractable hard top.
Every Corvette trim is offered in both versions, including the Stingray, Z06 and E-Ray.
According to the National Corvette Museum, the production split across the 53,785 Corvettes built in 2023 was 52% coupes and 48% convertibles and that should stay true for the upcoming top of the line ZR1.
Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter told GM Authority that he expects the convertible to “make up around half of the sales.”
It has been noticed that the coupe has air vents on the top of its rear fenders that are absent on the convertible and Juechter told GM Authority that’s because the folding roof mechanism was in the way of the venting.
He said that it doesn’t effect the maximum power of the ZR1’s 1,064 hp twin-turbocharged V8, but could come into play during a long day on the track where maximum cooling is required. Given that the coupe is 132 pounds lighter than the convertible, he thinks the most serious track drivers will opt for the coupe anyway, but said that they are both designed for that type of use.

Chevrolet hasn’t announced pricing for the ZR1, but said that deliveries will begin early next year. It will be the fastest Corvette ever with a top speed of 215 mph and also the quickest with a quarter-mile time that’s Chevrolet promises will be less than 10 seconds. A standard computer-controlled suspension and available package that adds a wing, dive planes and a more aggressive front splitter to increase downforce is designed to improve the car’s handling.
Pricing still hasn’t been announced, but the track-focused Z06 that uses a 670 hp naturally aspirated version of the ZR1’s engine starts at $115,390.
