1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona Destroys Auction Record With $3.3 Million Sale
Talk about inflation!
A 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona that set a record for the model when it was sold for $1.32 million in 2022 has been auctioned again for two and a half times that amount.
The F8 Dark Green Metallic car is one of just 22 Hemi Daytona four-speed models that were built in 1969 and the most highly optioned example.
It is fully restored and still has its original 426-cubic-inch engine, Hurst shifter, Tic-Toc-Tach, power everything, AM/8-track radio, wood steering wheel, a 4.10 Dana 60 9.75 Sure Grip rear end and the Max Cooling Package. It’s the only one with a C6G Green vinyl interior and has a black-painted rear wing strip with the Daytona name in it on the fenders.

The car was sold for $3.3 million, which is not just a record for the Daytona, but also for any Dodge vehicle.
It’s also the second-highest price ever paid for a Mopar car, with the record still belonging to a 1971 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda Convertible that was auctioned at Mecum’s Seattle event in 2014.
The Daytona has seen such a remarkable ascension in the classic car ranks in recent years that even a fake one built for the David Spade movie “Joe Dirt” was sold this year for $330,000. The car was originally a 1969 Charger and was modified to look like a Daytona. It still has the faux rusted and busted styling applied for its role in the film, a chain-link steering wheel and fuzzy seat covers.

In fact, prior to the $3.3 million sale, the record price paid for a Daytona was for an authentic car that was once owned by Spade himself and was sold at auction last year for $1.43 million.
