The Clash is moving from one stadium to another.

NASCAR has announced that its season-opening exhibition event will be held at Winston-Salem’s Bowman Gray Stadium on Feb. 2, 2025.

The Clash has been held on a temporary track built inside of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the past three years.

Bowman Gray is a historic structure built in 1937 that serves as both a football stadium and a quarter-mile oval track, where rough and tumble racing and frequent fights between drivers has earned it the nickname “The Madhouse.” It has a permanent seating capacity of around 17,000.

The Winston-Salem State Rams play there and races are held weekly, but the NASCAR Cup Series hasn’t visited the venue in a half-century, but took over management of it racing operations this year.

“Bowman Gray Stadium has a storied history in motorsports, so we look forward to bringing the Cup Series back to this revered racetrack for the first time since 1971,” Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Venue & Racing Innovation Office said in a press release announcing the event.

“As NASCAR’s first weekly racetrack, Bowman Gray Stadium holds a special place as the original home to grassroots racing. With a history of intense competition, we are proud to host The Clash at the ‘The Madhouse.’”

The format for the event has not been announced, but it will almost certainly feature heat races with small fields qualifying for a main event.

NASCAR has not confirmed the full 2025 season schedule, yet, but officials had previously said that they will have a race in the Southern California market, even though the new short track planed to replace Auto Club Speedway has not yet been built.

The only other 2025 events that have been confirmed so far are the Daytona 500 on Feb 16th, the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 18th, the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25th, Atlanta on June 28th, the Southern 500 on Sept. 1 and the championship at Phoenix on Nov. 2.
