NASCAR Michigan Race Suspended For Rain And Will Resume On Monday
Since the rain wouldn’t go away, they’ll try again another day.
The NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway was suspended on Sunday due to rain and will resume at 11 a.m. ET on Monday.
The start of the race was also delayed as a shower passed over the track, but just 51 of a scheduled 200 laps were able to be completed before a heavier downpour moved in. That’s short of the required half distance that is required for an race to be official.
Saturday’s qualifying was also canceled for rain and Denny Hamlin started on pole based on the formula NASCAR uses in that situation, with Tyler Reddick lining up alongside of him on the front row followed by Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott.

Ryan Blaney won the first stage after choosing to stay out when the leaders pitted during a yellow brought out by Hamlin spinning on Lap 39 of the 45-lap stage.
Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman were lined up for the restart when the race was suspended. The full field of 36 cars was still running and will all start the race on Monday.

The regular season championship remains very much up for grabs with three races remaining and Kyle Larson in first just five points ahead of Tyler Reddick. Chase Elliott is just one point behind Reddick and has a healthy 15-point lead on Denny Hamlin.
There are four open playoff spots still available for first time race winners and Bubba Wallace and Chris Buescher sit just above the cutline with Ross Chastain in contention to bump one of them on points.
