American Formula One Driver Logan Sargeant Replaced Mid-Season At Williams Racing
Logan Sargeant knew the end was coming, but it arrived sooner than expected.
Williams Racing announced in June that the only American in Formula One will be replaced by Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz next year, but now the team has decided to let its Argentinian Formula Two driver, Franco Colapinto, finish out the season in Logan’s car.
Sargeant is coming off of a major crash during practice for last weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old drove in 36 races across two seasons scoring a single point at the United States Grand Prix last year. He still finished that season 21st despite their only being 20 full-time drivers as Liam Lawson scored two points while filling in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri.

“The team would like to take the opportunity to thank Logan Sargeant for his hard work and contribution over the past two seasons,” it said in a press release, noting that he was the first American to score points in F1 since Michael Andretti in 1993.
“Logan will remain in the Williams family and we will support him to continue his racing career.”
Sargeant has not yet announced any plans for 2025.

His teammate Alex Albon said on X, “I know firsthand how brutal this sport can be & it’s tough to see Logan leave the team mid-season. You gave it your all brother and it’s been a pleasure being teammates with you. I know whatever you do next, you’ll be awesome.”
Sargeant had to sit out the Australian Grand Prix after Albon crashed during practice because the team didn’t have a backup car with them and Albon was the number one driver.
