Electric Dodge Charger Daytona Police Car Revealed
The crooks won’t hear it coming. Or maybe they will.
Dodge has revealed the first image of an upcoming law enforcement version of the Charger Daytona.
The photo posted to social media shows the front of a black and white car with the Dodge Law logo on the hood.
The words “To Protect And To Serve” below the badge are partially obscured by the Charger Daytona’s signature R-Wing that creates the look of a blunt front end while allowing air to flow through it for improved aerodynamics.

That feature confirms that this is the battery-powered Charger Daytona and not the internal combustion engine Charger, which will feature a turbocharged inline-six-cylinder. Both will be offered in two-door and four-door body styles.
“Surely you didn’t think we’d forget about a legend. Stay tuned for more details,” the post said.
The discontinued last generation Dodge Charger was offered in a popular and now iconic police pursuit version. Former Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis told Jay Leno that 170,000 were sold from 2006 through 2023 and that the final Charger built was a law enforcement model.
Earlier this year American Cars And Racing asked Kuniskis if there would be a law enforcement version of the Charger Daytona and he said, “TBD, but yes, it’s definitely on our radar because that is a big business for us.”
The old Charger was also the last pursuit-rated police “car” available, as all of the currently produced vehicles, including the Dodge Durango Pursuit, are SUVS or trucks.
Featuring the Charger Daytona in the teaser doesn’t preclude Dodge from also offering a version with the straight-six, of course, and with the pricey electric Charger Daytona currently slated for high performance models only over the next couple of years, a workhorse gas-powered variant seems likely.

The 3.0-liter straight-six, which Dodge is calling the SIXPACK, is no slouch. Consumer models will be launching next year in 420 hp and 550 hp versions, which are more powerful than the previous Charger’s naturally aspirated V8s were.
The Charger Daytona may have one big advantage over the Charger in crime fighting, as its electric drivetrain could make it a very stealthy vehicle. However, the retail Charger Daytona will be equipped with a feature called the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, which simulates the sound and vibrations of a V8 engine.
Since the photo that was released only shows the front of the police car, there’s no way of knowing if it has the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust “pipes” in its rear bumper, but it might be better for community relations if it doesn’t. Unless, perhaps, that community is near a race track.
