Special Delivery: GM’s Electric Brightdrop Vans Moving To Chevrolet
The Chevy Express is getting some company.
General Motors has announced that it is rolling its BrightDrop electric van brand under the Chevrolet banner.
The cargo van lineup was announced in 2021 and launched in 2023 as a standalone unit, but will be adopting the Chevrolet name and logos.
All existing Chevrolet dealers will have the opportunity to become certified to sell the vehicles.

“With the addition of BrightDrop to the Chevrolet lineup, we are combining advanced EV technology with the dependability and widespread accessibility that only Chevrolet can offer,” Chevrolet vice presideent Scott Bell said in a press release. “This move strengthens our EV offerings and reaffirms our role as a leading commercial brand that enables businesses large and small to get work done.”

A GM spokesman confirmed to American Cars And Racing that GMC is not currently scheduled to get its own version of the BrightDrop products, even though its current lineup of vehicles mirrors Chevrolet’s.
That includes the GMC Savanah that is a twin to the Chevrolet Express. The two internal combustion engine models are the oldest mass produced vehicles on sale today. The current version dates back to a 2003 facelift while their underpinnings have roots that were planted in 1996.

BrightDrop currently offers the short-wheelbase Zevo 400 and long-wheelbase Zevo 600, which both have estimated combined driving range of 272 miles between charges. They are currently advertised at $62,725 and $64,425 “after cash offers” that are available.
BrightDrop production at GM’s Canadian CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario was suspended from last October until this April due to a shortage of batteries, but is up and running now and 746 have been delivered so far in 2024 in addition to the 298 that were delivered last year.
Its competition includes the Ford E-Transit lineup and Ram ProMaster EV, which matches up with the Zevo 600 on size and is priced at $77,990 with an estimated 174 miles of city driving range.
