New US-Built Scout SUV And Pickup To Be Revealed October 24
Keep your eagle eyes peeled on Oct. 24 because you may spot a Scout.
That’s the date that the reborn Scout Motors will take the wraps off of the first electric off-road vehicles it will build at its new South Carolina factory.
“44 years to the week after the last Scout II™? rolled off the line – we’ll officially reveal the next generation of Scout vehicles to the world. To the makers, doers and everyday explorers, and our loyal Scout community, we look forward to showing you our new SUV and truck concepts we’ve been hard at work crafting behind the scenes,” the Volkswagen-owned brand said in a social media post.
VW holds the rights to the Scout brand through its ownership of Navistar, which is a successor to International Harvester. The new company is being set up as an independently operated U.
S-based company under the Volkswagen Group.

Scout has released a few sketches and teasers that suggest an SUV and pickup similar in size to the Rivian R1S and R1T are in the works and will feature a modernized take on the classic Scout styling.
Interestingly, Volkswagen and Rivian agreed to collaborate on software for electric vehicles in a deal worth up to $5 billion in Volkswagen investments. The Scouts will use their own vehicle platform, however, not one borrowed from Rivian or another VW brand.
The Blythewood factory is being built with a maximum capacity of 200,000 vehicles annually. That would would take just three years at full output to outsell the original Scout, which accounted for just over 500,000 sales from 1961 through 1980.
it will be a couple of years before it builds any, however, as deliveries are scheduled to begin sometime in 2026 and ramp up through 2027.
