Kyle Larson To Attempt The Indy 500 And Coca-Cola 600 Double Again In 2025 With One Big Change
Will second time at The Double be the charm?
Kyle Larson will return to the Indy 500 in 2025 in an attempt to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600.
Larson famously tried to complete the feat this past May, but was thwarted by a storm front that both delayed the start of the Indy 500 and cut short the Coca-Cola 600.
He finished the first, but wasn’t able to make it to Charlotte in time to get in the car before the race was called with 249 laps of a planned 400 laps completed and Christopher Bell declared the winner.

After several days of deliberation, NASCAR granted Larson a waiver that allowed him to compete in this year’s playoffs despite missing the race. That won’t be an issue next year.

Larson will once again race in an Arrow McLaren car at Indy, but his NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick said during a press conference at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday that if the Indy 500 runs long or is delayed again that he’ll pull Larson out of the car in time to make it to the start of the Coca-Cola 600, even if he is in the lead. IndyCar veteran Tony Kanan will once again serve as Larson’s coach and back up driver for the Indy 500.
Larson did enjoy success on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval this season, however, by winning the Brickyard 400 in a dramatic overtime finish this July.
His focus will now turn toward the NASCAR Playoffs where he has some work to do as he crashed out of the first race in Atlanta and dropped from first in the post-season standings to 10th with two races left in the first round.
