The $2.65 Million Hennessey Venom F5-M Is The World’s Most Powerful Stick-Shift Car
You’ll need some fancy footwork to dance with Hennessey’s latest supercar.
Hennessey Special Vehicles has unveiled the Venom F5-M Roadster, which is a new version of the Venom F5 that features a manual transmission.
The Texas-based outfit swapped the automated seven-speed, single-clutch, paddle-shifted gearbox for a six-speed with a gated H-pattern shifter and a clutch pedal, but retained the car’s 1,817 hp twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 engine.
“We are so excited to offer the Venom F5-M Roadster – the world’s most powerful manual. We always wanted to build a manual Venom F5 – and it’s something our clients have been asking for. It’s old school, it’s badass, and it offers ultimate driving engagement,” John Hennessey said in an announcement for the model.
“Driving the Venom F5 is already a full body experience that thrills, inspires, and never gets old… but, we never say that’s enough, we never stand still. That’s why we’ve dived deeper into the sensation of driving, finding every touchpoint to deliver connection, feedback, sound, and engagement. We believe that the Venom F5-M Roadster will be the most intense, immersive, and extreme driving experience on the planet and a dozen lucky customers get to join us for the ride!”

Just 12 of the cars will be built and they’ve already been sold out at a starting price of $2.65 million, with each featuring a unique color combination.
The shifter and gate are constructed from a combination of billet aluminum and carbon fiber. The other major difference between the F5-M and the other coupe and roadster models is the addition of a dorsal fin behind the passenger compartment.
The Venom F5 was designed to exceed 300 mph and Hennessey has been working toward an attempt to do that, with high speed testing at the Shuttle Landing Facility in Florida that has included a crash at 250 mph that the test driver survived without serious injury.

“Pushing the limits of speed, performance, and physics has never been easy,” Hennessey said after the incident.
A record attempt would likely need to take place on a closed public highway stretch that’s long enough to for the car to go beyond 300 mph.
