Secret Classic Chevy Corvette Stash In Wisconsin Up For Auction
Sometimes even the best friends have some secrets between them.
Bill Slavens and his buddy Bob Kuykendall were lifelong pals and classic car enthusiasts with a penchant for Chevy Corvettes.
The men spent decades criss-crossing the U.S. looking for finds and bringing them home to Wisconsin and work on them and sell them.
But not always, it turns out.

Slavens passed away last year and Kuykendall took up the job of cleaning out his garage, so to speak, and what he found surprised him. Slavens hadn’t mentioned he’d kept a stash of cars stored away in various barns and storage units.
He found 20 ranging from an original 1953 to a 1991 convertible and loads of rims and Rochester fuel injectors to go with them. The cars were mostly non-running and in various conditions, although many of their fiberglass bodies had held up well.

The cars and parts are now set to go up for sale on Oct. 5 at a VanDerBrink Auctions event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Wis., but online bidding is also available and open.
Among the gems are a 1963 split window Stingray with AC that’s already been bid up to $59,000 at the time this story was published, while that 1953 car, which is in rough shape, had a $30,000 offer on it.

Conveniently, Slavens’ 2009 Chevrolet C5500 Ramp Truck will also be crossing the block and is perfect for hauling at least one of the Corvettes home.
