The Tesla Cybertruck Is Nearly Outselling All Other Electric Trucks Combined
July was a good month for stainless steel trucks.
Tesla racked up 5,175 registrations for the Tesla Cybertruck, according to the latest report by S&P Mobility.
That’s almost the combined total of all the other electric pickups that are currently on sale.
This includes the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV.
Registrations for the other trucks added up to 5,546 vehicles, according to CBT.

Registrations don’t perfectly match sales during a month, but Ford reported 2,822 F-150 Lightning deliveries during July, while GM and Rivian only release quarterly figures. Chevrolet only delivered 3,257 Silverado EVs through the first half of the year, with 2,196 coming in the second quarter as production of the new vehicle picks up speed. In April, the same report said that there were 2,509 F-150 Lightnings registered in the month and 2,181 Cybertrucks, so things have changed significantly for Tesla.

Along with being the top electric truck, the Cybertruck was also the best selling vehicle with a price above $100,000 for the second straight month in July, Kelly Blue Book reported. This despite the fact that its average transaction price of $111,018 is 67% higher than the F-150 Lightning’s $67,000. The lowest priced Cybertruck trim that is currently available is $99,990, not counting the destination fee.

Things could either be heating up or cooling off at Tesla. In August, it opened up orders to the Cybertruck to everyone, not just those who had signed up for a reservation over the past few years. Prices have not changed, and no less expensive models have yet been added to the lineup, and it remains unclear how the move has affected overall sales.

The Cybertruck may also become more appealing in the coming weeks. Or not. Elon Musk has been promising to activate the Full Self-Driving feature that is included with all Cybertrucks sold to date, but previous suggested release dates in July and August have come and gone without it happening.
