The Toyota Tacoma was all-new for 2024, but it will soon be the last pickup with an old-school feature.
Jeep has announced that the Gladiator will no longer be offered with a manual transmission. All models will come standard with an eight-speed automatic, starting with the 2025 model year.
That leaves the Tacoma as the last pickup in any size class that you can still get with a stick-shift, but even it has limitations on availability.
The only configuration that can currently be ordered with a manual is a 4×4 double cab with a five-foot bed. That setup comes with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

It’s also restricted to just three trim levels. You can get it on the entry-level SR, the TRD Off-Road or the Sport. Base prices with it are $36,195 for the SR, $43,295 for the TRD Off-Road and $44,095 for the Sport.
None of Ford, GM, Nissan, Honda or Hyundai’s pickups are available with a manual and that’s also true for the all-electric pickups from Rivian and Tesla. Considering the Tacoma is manufactured in Mexico, that means there are no US-built pickups with stick shifts anymore. Toyota hasn’t yet released the official details on its 2025 Tacoma lineup yet, but a spokesperson confirmed to American Cars And Racing that manual transmissions will continue be offered on what is the best selling midsize pickup, by far.

Toyota still sells several other models with manual transmissions, but they’re all sports cars. The GR Corolla GR86 and GR Supra can each be had with a six-speed manual transmission. In fact, the GR Corolla is only available with a manual for 2024, but the 2025 model will be getting an eight-speed automatic option to broaden its appeal.

Neither the Land Cruiser nor upcoming 2025 4Runner will have one, which leaves the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler as the only off-road SUVs that you can still get with a manual.
