The Ram 1500 was updated for 2025 and the brand’s Heavy Duty trucks are also getting a makeover.

Technical details are yet to come, but Ram has released photos of the exterior redesign as the trucks begin to head out onto the road undisguised for testing.

The bodies remain largely the same as the trucks that first debuted in 2019, but there are new grille, bumper and lighting designs. The headlights are now bisected and with their accent LED bar moved from below to above the main housings.

The three vehicles depicted in the photos include the Rebel trim and a white chassis cab shown from the front.

All feature a grille with the current Rebel’s signature shape, which has an indent along the bottom. Ram said that cooling is the focus of the ongoing tests, so it’s possible the new design is largely related to this.

The trucks in the photos are all wearing Cummins badges, which confirms the 6.7-liter straight-six-cylinder turbodiesel engine is returning, while the gasoline-fueled 6.4-liter Hemi V8 is also expected to continue to be available.

The 2025 Ram 1500 replaced V8 engines with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six-cylinder gas motor, but many heavy duty truck customers prefer a large V8 for towing and hauling. The Ram 1500’s straight-six is offered in 420 hp and 540 hp versions and was named one of WardsAuto’s Best Engines and Propulsion Systems this year. It will also be featured in the Dodge Charger that’s launching late next year with 420 hp and 550 hp tunes.

Ram has not said if the Heavy Duty trucks will be getting any type of electrification, like the Ram 1500 REV and 1500 Ramcharger are, but one of its competitors will be in the coming years. Ford has announced that the next generation F-Series Super Duty trucks coming in 2026 will be offered with “multi-energy technology,” which suggests hybrid powertrains will be in the mix.
