The 2025 Ford Expedition will be able to live up to its name more than ever before with the addition of a new Tremor trim.

The Expedition has been thoroughly updated, but is a refresh of the outgoing model rather than an all-new vehicle. Active, Platinum and King Ranch trims will also be offered.

The front and rear have been restyled and the cargo area features a new split tailgate with a lower section that can be left up as a barrier or opened to create a flat load floor or seat that can support up to 500 pounds.

The Tremor is modeled after the Ford F-150’s trim of the same name and gets a high output version of the Expedition’s 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that’s rated at 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, while the other models use a standard version with 400 hp and480 lb-ft. Both are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Rear-wheel-drive is standard, but the Tremor only comes with an all-wheel-drive system that includes a rear locking differential. It also has an increased ride height with 10.6 inches of ground clearance, an off-road tuned suspension and 33-inch GoodYear Grabber All-Terrain tires. A bash plate, metal running boards and skid plates for the front axle, transfer case and fuel tank add protection on rough terrain.

The Tremor is also equipped with Ford’s Trail Turn Assist, which locks and inside rear wheel on loose surfaces to help make sharper turns, and Trail One-Pedal Drive, which applies the brakes automatically as you lift off the throttle at low speeds off-road.

The Expedition’s interior has a new look with a 24-inch digital display mounted high on the dashboard instead of a traditional instrument cluster. A flat-top steering wheel makes it easier to see, while the infotainment system is controlled through a touchscreen mounted above the center console. An optional 40/20/40 third row bench allows the center to be folded down independently of the outboard seats for long items.

Among the options offered across the lineup is Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, which is either standard or available on all trims. Every Expedition gets a 360-degree camera, Ford’s Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0 electronic driver aid package, adaptive cruise control and both the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist systems.

Pricing for the Expedition has not yet been announced, but the 2025 vehicles are expected to be in showrooms in the spring.
