New Acura ADX Teased, But Will It Be A US-Built SUV?
Acura’s next big thing is a small SUV.
The automaker has released the first teaser images of its upcoming ADX.
The model will will fit into the lineup beneath the RDX crossover SUV.
“The all-new Acura ADX is another exciting model positioned at the gateway of our lineup, attracting a new generation of buyers to the Acura brand,” Mike Langel, assistant vice president, Acura National Sales said in a news release.

“When our new Acura ADX arrives in dealer showrooms, it will strengthen an exceptional lineup of premium SUVs that already includes the popular RDX, best-selling MDX and all-electric ZDX.”

Acura said it “will build on the success of the Integra as an additional gateway model to the Acura performance lineup” and confirmed that it will feature a turbocharged engine.
Aside from the styling, the big unknown is where it will be made. Honda manufactures the similarly sized HR-V in Mexico, while the $34,195 Integra sedan is built in Ohio. Both are built on variations of a shared platform that the ADX will likely utilize.

What’s at stake is Acura’s current position as one of just three full-line automakers that builds all of the vehicles they sell in the U.S. within the U.S. The others are Tesla and Cadillac, but the latter will soon be launching the Optiq electric SUV that will be imported from Mexico. The mystery will be solved when the ADX is fully revealed later this fall.
