NASCAR Playoffs Shocker: Alex Bowman’s Car Fails Post-Race Inspection To Put Joey Logano Into Round Of 8
Alex Bowman finished the NASCAR Cup Series Charlotte Roval race in 18th, which was good enough to advance him through to the playoffs Round of 8 in sixth place, but not for long.
After the race, Bowman’s Hendrick Motorsports car was found to be under the weight limit, which disqualified his result. He was listed in last place at 38th, which dropped him below the playoff cutline.
That moved Joey Logano from ninth into eighth and into the next round with his teammate Ryan Blaney.
Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez and Chase Briscoe were also eliminated from the post-season at the race and Bowman’s plight didn’t help any of them.

NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director Brad Moran said that the team was given the opportunity to replenish fluids in the car, but that it still came under the minimum weight.
“We are working to understand the issue and will make a decision Monday about whether to submit an appeal,” Hendrick Motorsports said.
The situation shuffled the playoffs field, which now looks like this:
- Kyle Larson + 33
- Christopher Bell +13
- Tyler Reddick +10
- William Byron +4
- Ryan Blaney -4
- Denny Hamlin -8
- Chase Elliott -9
- Joey Logano -11
