It was a mean tweet!

Alex Bowman went from the top of the world to the bottom of the barrel last Sunday in Charlotte.

Bowman finished the Bank of America Roval 400 in 18th position, which was good enough to advance him to the NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8, but his car failed a post-race inspection by being underweight, which disqualified his result and eliminated him from the playoffs.

Unfortunately, Bowman found out about it on social media when he saw a post on X from Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass, he told the reporter is Las Vegas on Saturday.

“Blake called me, wasn’t sure about things,” Bowman said, referencing his crew chief Blake Harris, “and then the next thing I got was your tweet and I proceeded to throw my phone in the pool.” and then things almost got worse.

“My phone proceeded to call 911 and tell them I was in a car crash, so my Sunday night wasn’t very good,” he said. “It couldn’t happen to anybody else that way, right?”

Bowman clarified that the call didn’t go through because there was no service, but the phone still works, The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck reported.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver is having a solid season, however, and stands ninth in the points heading into Las Vegas, though he’d surely rather still be in the playoffs with his three teammates, Kyle Larson, William Byron and Chase Elliott.
