The 755 hp 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the most powerful Corvette that has ever been sold, but it won’t be for long.

The upcoming mid-engine 2025 Corvette ZR1 that was revealed this summer is powered by a 1,064 hp turbocharged V8 and has a certified top speed of 233 mph.

That’s 21 mph faster than the old car, which featured a supercharged V8 mounted up front, but it also had something the new Corvette can’t compete with.

The 2025 ZR1 only comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the 2019 model was offered with either an eight-speed automatic or a seven-speed manual.

That feature plus the classic front-engine layout apparently still appeals to a lot of Corvette fans as prices for the 2019 ZR1 have remained strong.

One Sebring Orange ZR1 with 3,527 miles on it that originally cost $144,680 was just sold at the Mecum Auctions Las Vegas event for $192,500. This particular car was a bit special, as it was the first 2019 ZR1 equipped with a manual transmission, making it a milestone example of the model, but not the most valuable one. Another Sebring Orange ZR1 with a stick, but only 495 miles on it was sold at at the RM Sotheby’s event in Coral Gables, Fla., in March for $246,400, and even that wasn’t a record.
