Ford Idling F-150 Lightning Production For Seven Weeks
Ford will be pausing production of the F-150 Lightning from Nov. 18 to Jan. 6 to better align supplies with demand.
The stretch includes a planned week off at the end of December for a holiday break.
The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan was set up to build the F-150 Lighting at an annual rate of 150,000, but in January Ford slashed its forecasts and production at the facility.
Just 22,807 were delivered through the first nine months of the year, while the Tesla Cybertruck that launched last November reached 28,250 deliveries and is picking up steam, even with prices starting at $100,000.

“We continue to adjust production for an optimal mix of sales growth and profitability,” a Ford spokesperson told Reuters.
Ford delayed the launch of its next-generation full size electric pickup from 2025 to at least 2027 and killed an electric three-row SUV.
Development of the large pickup continues, but Ford has shifted its electric vehicle focus toward a new line of low-priced models that is currently scheduled to kick off with a midsize truck in 2027.
Ford is aiming to sell the low-priced pickup for less than $40,000 and build it at a cost that can compete with the Chinese.
No details about the truck, including its name, have been released.
