Forbidden Ford: Ranger Super Duty Launching In 2026 — Here’s Where
It’s a petite powerhouse.
Ford has announced the upcoming launch of the first Ranger Super Duty, which will deliver full size truck hauling capabilities in a midsize package.
Unfortunately for American truck buyers, the Thailand-built, global markets Ranger will only be sold in Australia and other countries around the world. Ford currently has no plans to offer a Super Duty version of the Michigan-made Ranger that is closely related to it, but engineered specifically for the U.S. market.
Ford teased the truck with a shadowy image of the front end and a few performance figures, but no technical specifications.

It will be able to tow up to 4,500 kg, which is nearly 10,000 pounds and its gross vehicle weight rating will be the same, which suggests it could have a payload capacity greater than 2,000 pounds, but the weight of the truck has not been confirmed. The maximum towing capacity on the standard Ranger it is based on is 3,500 kg or 7,716 pounds. Australia has a different rating system, but the U.S. market Ranger tops out at a similar 7,500 pounds.

This work-ready vehicle will give owners the flexibility they need to get the big jobs done, with the confidence of a factory-backed warranty,” said Sondra Sutton Phung, General Manager, Global Truck, Ford Motor Company, said in a news release.

Ford said the Ranger Super Duty will also have enhanced off-road capability be able to “do things that no other midsize truck can do.” The global Ranger is available with either a 168 hp single-turbo 2.0-liter diesel or a 207 hp twin-turbo 2.0 liter diesel, while the Ranger Raptor gets a gas twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 rated at 392 hp.

That last model offers some hope for American Ford fans that there could be a Ranger Super Duty in the future, because the Ranger Raptor first launched as the global markets version before the U.S. version debuted for the 2024 model year.
