Fred Flintstone would love this truck.

A U.S. Army 1990 Freightliner Unimog FLU419 Small Emplacement Excavator up for auction on Bring A Trailer is the closest you can get to driving a dinosaur.

The camouflage 4×4 truck is equipped with a front loader and a backhoe that looks like a tail. Squint and you can almost see Fred at the controls of his trusty brontosaurus at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company.

The massive military machine is powered by a 5.7-liter Mercedes-Benz inline-six diesel and has a four-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case with a splitter that gives it a total of sixteen forward gears and eight reverse gears.

The truck breathes through an intake snorkel and stands tall on 20-inch wheels shod in four-foot-tall tires attached to portal axles. The odometer shows 1317 miles, but exact mileage is unknown. It is being sold from Ohio on a bill of sale.

A similar truck with just the front loader sold for $41,475 last year, according to Hagerty, but it’s hard to put a solid valuation on vehicles of this type. Bidding had reached $8,100 at the time this story was published, but the auction runs through Nov. 24.
