The 2025 Ford Expedition SSV Is A Stealthy Police SUV
You might need a Waze alert to spot Ford’s latest SUV.
The 2025 Ford Expedition SSV (Special Service Vehicle) is a new version of the updated SUV that was designed for police and other government agencies.
The full-size model is offered in a standard two-row and three-row Max versions, both powered by a standard 400 hp turbocharged V6 engine.
Cloth seats, vinyl floors and an upgraded electrical system to support auxiliary equipment are all standard features.

The Expedition SSV gets the same dashboard design as the retail model, which has a 24-inch display in front of the driver and a wide touchscreen for the infotainment system.

It also has the Expedition’s new Split Gate tailgate, which has an upper section that can be opened independently of the fold-down lower section, which works like a pickup’s tailgate and can support 500 pounds.
The Expedition SSV can tow up to 9,600 pounds and is available with Ford’s semi-automated Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist electronic driver aid systems.

It also has a mode called Dark Car that turns out all of the interior lighting while the vehicle is still running to help police keep a low profile on stakeouts.
One thing you cant get with the Expedition SSV is a pursuit rating, which is currently limited to the Explorer-based Police Interceptor SUV and F-150 Police Responder Pickup.

Specific pricing for the 2025 Expedition SSV has not been released, but the civilian model starts at $63,695. It is offered in both standard and Max versions with a top-of-the-line King Ranch priced at $88,650.
