Electric Dodge Charger Daytona Convertible In The Works

Hey, if you’re going to help keep the air clean, you might as well enjoy it, right?

Florida’s Drop Top Customs is developing a convertible conversion for the electric Dodge Charger Daytona.

Images of a prototype were posted to the company’s Facebook page in November, but were first reported on by Carscoops last week.

The company had previously been focused on converting Dodge Challenger coupes into convertibles, but is following the brand into its electric age.

The blue car shown in the photos has a few misaligned panels and a slightly saggy roof, but it is a work in progress. The hard tonneau cover sits low on the rear deck and looks like a good fit. Details on when the conversion will be available and how much it will cost have not yet been shared.

The fact that the company was able to get its hands on a pre-production car suggest there is some collaboration with Dodge, but spokesman for the automaker told American Cars And Racing that there is “nothing to share at this time.”

During its final year of production in 2023, Dodge entered a formal relationship with Drop Top Customs that allowed customers to option the conversion through Dodge dealers when they ordered their cars for $25,999. It was available on all Challengers, including the 900 hp SRT Demon 170 model. Dodge never offered a factory third generation Challenger Convertible.

The cars were then considered conversions upon delivery, but Drop Top Customs warrantied its work for three years and 36,000 miles. Drop Top Customs still offers Challenger conversions on existing cars for $23,999.

The Charger Daytona is currently offered in R/T and Scat Pack trims that start at $61,590 and $75,185. Both come standard with the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, which emits a simulated exhaust sound that will be easy to hear when the top is down.

Later this year, Dodge will be launching the turbocharged straight-six powered Charger Sixpack, which will share its body with the Charger Daytona and presumably be compatible with the Drop Top Customs conversion.
