Can Helio hit a triple in Daytona?
Four-time Indy 500 Helio Castroneves is entering NASCAR’s Daytona 500 in the Trackhouse Racing PROJECT91 car.
It marks the first time he’ll ever race a NASCAR car and his first attempt to win The Great American Race.
If successful, the Brazilian IndyCar star will become just the third driver to win the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 after Mario Andretti and A.J. Foyt.

He’s had plenty of success at Daytona before, just in a different type of car, having won the 24 Hours of Daytona three times in a row with Meyer Shank Racing from 2021 to 2023.
In fact, he’s was the first person to win the Indy 500 and 24 Hours of Daytona in the same year in 2021, a feat that was equalled by Josef Newgarden last year.
That leaves him just a Daytona 500 win shy of the so-called American Triple Crown of Motorsports, which Andretti and Foyt completed with 24 Hours of Daytona wins.

The PROJECT91 car is a guest car that Trackhouse Racing runs on occasion to give drivers outside of NASCAR a taste of the stock car racing series. Wendy’s is on board as Castroneves’ sponsor for the race.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would enter a NASCAR race and certainly not the Daytona 500 with a team like Trackhouse Racing,” Castroneves said in a press release. “This is an opportunity that nobody in their right mind could ever turn down. I am so thankful to Wendy’s for allowing me to wear their uniform and drive their car, (Trackhouse owner) Justin Marks and everyone that made this happen. I wish the race were tomorrow!”

Daytona won’t be the only 500-mile race Castroneves is in this year as he is slated to enter the Indy 500 in search of a record-breaking fifth win in The Greatest Spectacle In Racing.
