The Jeep Wrangler Outsold The Ford Bronco In 2024, But It’s Getting Closer
The Jeep Wrangler remained America’s best selling topless off-road SUV in 2024 with 151,163 deliveries, but its glory days may be behind it.
That result was down 3% from the previous year and is a far cry from the record 240,032 Wranglers that were bought in 2018.
Meanwhile, Ford Bronco deliveries were up 3% to 109,172 as it continues to steal sales from its rival.
Ford actually built 155,474 Broncos in 2024 as it ramped up production at its Michigan Assembly Plant to help meet the strong demand for the model, but not all were delivered to customers by the end of the year and many were shipped to other countries.

Ford will be looking to keep things fresh in 2025 with the debut of the Stroppe Special Edition high performance model and is reintroducing the Bronco’s Base trim starting at $39,890. Meanwhile, Jeep has made an about face and brought back the automatic transmission-equipped V6 Wrangler after initially planning to only offer that engine with a six-speed manual transmission. Jeep has also extended the life of the 6.4-liter V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 into 2025, which was supposed to be out of production by now.

The only other truck on sale in the U.S. that can be considered a direct competitor to the Wrangler and Bronco is the Toyota 4Runner, but it doesn’t have a removable top. Toyota managed to deliver 92,156 of the perennially popular truck last year, despite the impending launch of an all-new 4Runner in the coming weeks.
General Motors doesn’t currently offer an SUV in this segment and hasn’t announced any intention to do so anytime soon.
