Getting your Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally ready to rock will cost $2,995.

That’s how much the battery protector accessory is priced at in the Ford Performance catalog, according to Ford Authority.

The Mustang Mach-E’s battery is armored against typical road debris, but if you want to use the Rally model for its intended purpose, the extra shielding is a good idea.

The bolt-on kit includes a two-piece 2.5mm-thick aluminum shield, a 2.18mm-thick rear aluminum battery shield, ABS battery bolt covers and the brackets and hardware required to install it.

The shield will also fit the Mustang Mach-E GT, Select and Premium trims, but only those with the extended range battery pack. Ford does not recommend driving any of those trims off road, as they do not feature the updated suspension and wheel and tire package that the Rally gets, but it could offer additional protection in normal driving.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally has a starting price of $60,990. It features an all-wheel drive system rated at 480 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. It currently has no competition in the electric rally car-inspired segment, but there is some on the way.

Hyundai will soon be launching the Ioniq 5 XRT, which will be built in Georgia and feature suspension and wheel/tire updates similar to the Mustang Mach-E Rally’s, but a powertrain rated at just 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. Both will be joined by the Rivian R3X, which is smaller, but outfitted for high performance driving on unpaved surfaces.

The Ford Performance catalog also offers the Mustang Mach-E Rally’s distinctive rally-style wheels in a set of four for $1,545.
