Ford Mustang GTD Spirit Of America Revealed
Is it even a Ford Mustang if it doesn’t have a special edition model?
Ford has taken the wraps off of the Mustang GTD Spirit of America package, which flies the colors of the USA.
The car’s name is inspired by the land speed record cars driven by Craig Breedlove as he became the first person to break the 500 mph and 600 mph barriers. The trim also celebrates the Mustang GTD becoming the first American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in less than seven minutes.
It features red, white and blue stripes over white paint, plus red mirror covers and rear wing endplates. “Mustang” is also emblazoned across the upper wing element, where it can be seen by drivers the car passes on the track.

The $325,000 Mustang GTD’s optional performance package is standard along with red calipers for the front brakes. The racing buckets feature black leather, Dinamica suede-like trim inserts with a red stripe down the middle. blue stitching and white borders.
The Mustang GTD is powered by an 815 hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8 and has a top speed of 202 mph, courtesy of a drag reduction system that can flip the top element of its rear wing to reduced downforce and drag on straight sections of a track. It’s suspension system is also adjustable and features two sets of springs, one of which can be compressed to lower the car and reduce the spring rate for track driving.

Pricing for the Spirit of America package has not been released and Ford has not confirmed a date for the start of Mustang GTD deliveries.
