The Tesla Model Y is about to join the cyberverse.
Images of a redesigned Model Y from a winter testing facility in China have been posted on social media and reveal its new Cybertruck-inspired looks.
The update is internally known as Juniper and should adopt many of the improvements that the Model 3 received last year, which included a reengineered suspension system and a quieter cabin.
The new Model Y is adopting a front end design that appears to be inspired by the Cybertruck, with slim lights connected by a full-width light bar. The Tesla Robotaxi prototype features the same look.

The rear lightning gets a similar treatment, with a single red bar replacing the split clusters used on the current Model Y. Changes to the body in between the two ends are subtler and the vehicle retains its familiar overall shape.

Tesla hasn’t announced when the new Model Y will officially be released, but the updated Model 3 debuted in early January 2024. Model Ys in inventory are available with discounts, however, which suggests Tesla is looking to clear them out before the new version is launched. Prices for the Model Y currently start at $44,990, not including the destination fee, before any discounts or tax credits.

Tesla is also slated to release a new entry-level model this year that will be based on the Model Y and Model 3’s platform, but priced below both of them. No images or details about that vehicle, which will reportedly be called the Model Q, have been shared, but CEO Elon Musk said it could cost around $30,000 after the federal tax credit, which would put it at $37,500.
