The Honda CR-V is about to start playing dirty.
Honda has confirmed that an updated version of the compact SUV is on the way this year and that a new off-road TrailSport trim will be added to the lineup.
Honda currently offers TrailSport versions of the Pilot, Ridgeline and Passport, so it was only a matter of time before its best-seller was added to the mix.
Honda hasn’t shared any details or images of the CR-V TrailSport, but it will likely get all-terrain tires, underbody shielding, redesigned bumpers and an off-road tuned suspension.

The upcoming 2026 Passport TrailSport has a more aggressive setup than the Pilot and Ridgeline, so it’s not clear how hardcore the CR-V TrailSport will be.
The sixth-generation CR-V was launched for the 2023 model year, so the changes will represent a mid-life refresh rather than a complete redesign.

The CR-V is currently offered with the choice of a 190 hp 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 204 hp hybrid powertrain, the latter rated at up to 40 mph in front-wheel drive vehicles. Prices start at $31,495 with front-wheel drive and $32,995 with all wheel drive.

The CR-V (built at factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada) is coming off of a banner year for sales. Honda delivered 402,791 in 2024, which was the first time it broke the 400,000-unit barrier. That was enough to put it in fourth place overall, behind the Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado and its arch rival, the Toyota Rav4, which is available in an off-roady Woodland Edition model.

Along with the conventional and hybrid models, Honda also started selling one powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, but only in California where there are a few publicly available hydrogen stations.
