The New Tesla Model Y is on sale in the U.S. And, yes, that’s a capital N on “New.”

The updated compact SUV is officially called the New Model Y as Tesla continues to take orders for the current edition. The New Model Y is initially being offered only in a top spec Launch Series priced at $59,990 before destination fees.

The New Model Y features refreshed styling that includes a Cybertruck-inspired light bar across the front, redesigned taillights and Launch Series badging, but there is also plenty of engineering upgrades you can’t see.

The structure features fewer, larger parts and a new suspension that Tesla says delivers a quieter and more comfortable ride with better handling. The Model 3 received similar updates last year that resulted in a significant improvement in refinement.

The interior is trimmed in upgraded materials and gets a higher resolution touchscreen and a second screen for the rear seats, which have power folding in the Launch Series. The New Model Y has a turn signal stalk, unlike other Tesla models that use buttons on the steering wheel for this function.

The Launch Series is equipped with a Long Range All-Wheel Drive powertrain that’s rated at 320 miles per charge. A standard Acceleration Boost allows it to sprint to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, compared to the current, $45,990 Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive’s 4.8-second time.

The Launch Series also comes with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving feature, which is an $8,000 option on the other trims. The New Model Y also gets an eighth camera for FSD and its other electronic driver aids. Deliveries on orders placed today have an estimated delivery date in March. Tesla has not said when the redesign will be offered on other Model Y trims, including the Performance All-Wheel Drive model.
